HOW EXERCISES PROTECTS & IMPROVES BRAIN FUNCTIONS!!

I read , write, draw , paint and yeah, i exercise, in fact, regularly. Sometimes i go to the gym, to aerobics or for Zumba . Most of the time i might do simple & short workout at home only. I do all exercises to feel  GOOD, ENERGETIC, CLEAR , FOCUSED and now science says that it makes us more creative too…lets chase it!!

You know working out can give you strong muscles, can trim your tummy, keep your weight in check or increase your endurance. But did you know that a moderate exercise is also about the best thing you can do for your brain !!

Researches have shown that exercises promote brain health by increasing blood flow to the brain which elevates oxygen level so as to increase the release of brain derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) from the muscles thus encouraging the growth of new brain cells
This process is called Neurogenesis.
  •  So its clear that exercise significantly slows the rate of brain aging as much as 10 years.

Hippocampus is the part of the brain which is capable of growing new cells throughout the lifetime. It is evident that regularly exercising adults are seen to get their hippocampus enlarged by 1 or 2 % per year.

For example, just 20 minutes of leg strength enhances long term memory by about 10 %  .

It is observed that younger individuals who are consistently active and do exercise or any form of sport have increased BDNF level and having significantly decreased risk of developing dementia (memory disorder) in their older  ages.
  • Moving your body reduces stress and anxiety by increasing soothing brain chemicals like GABA and Endorphins.
  • Helps in release of antibodies that strengthens our immune system.

The people who exercise regularly have greater volume of the Prefrontal Cortex & Medial Temporal Cortex which is that part of your brain which controls thinking & memory as compared to those who don’t exercise.

HOW MOVING YOUR BODY KEEPS YOUR BRAIN YOUNG & SHARP !!

JUST LIKE YOUR MUSCLES,YOUR BRAIN NEEDS TO BE STRESSED TO GROW TOO

Routine is deadly for your brain.!!
Too much day in and day out routine is a big bad news for our brains. Most of us live our lives as a series of fixed routines. May be because it simplifies life but as it requires very little brain energy, consequently provides less stimulation to brain & results in a dull being.
  • So shaking up routines & proactive exercises are the keys to sharp minds.

Exercise your brain by engaging all of your senses…sight, sound, touch, taste & smell in non- routine ways...Like...

Switching your hands for doing daily task as eating food with your left hand.
Doing complicated activities that require you to move & think at the same time like TENNIS, BALLROOM DANCING, provides the biggest brain boost.

HOW EXERCISE PROMOTES PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH & GOOD MOOD!!

Memory and Cognition are not the only effects associated with exercise, but it jump starts good moods & protects us from Heart diseases, Stroke, high B.P., Osteoporosis, back pain, Obesity, Diabetes and so on.

One of the way exercise promotes mental health is by normalizing insulin resistance & boosting natural ‘feel good’ hormones & chemicals associated with mood control like SEROTONIN, GLUTAMINE, GABA, ENDORPHINS & DOPAMINE

Regular exercises can have a profoundly positive impact on Depression, Anxiety, ADHD ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ) & more.

  • It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better.

No matter your age or fitness level, you can
learn to use exercise
as a powerful tool to feel better.

 HOW EXERCISE BOOSTS CREATIVITY !

HENRY DAVID says,"The moment my legs begin to move my thoughts begin to flow"

Regular exercise may act as cognitive enhancer promoting creativity.
Significantly, physical exercise trains your brain to become more flexible in finding creative solutions.
  • It is said that small length of exercises produce long lengths of boosted creativity..

Pick a low concentration of exercises that allows your mind to wander as brisk walking, swimming laps, hiking or running or other sports... Exercise for a decent duration of 30 mins. And I bet, after then you can feel your creative juices flowing right in your mind.

So, when ideas are drying up, get away from your desk, take a walk, then a bath, go to sleep, listen to music and ya, you're prepared for more creativity!!

KEEP UP YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY !!
